Amy contacted us a few months ago out of the blue. She said she was getting married to the love of her life in mid May. The two were having a destination wedding. In Rocheport, you say? My heart sank, well... all of our May dates are full. But, wait, you're getting married on a Friday? Friday the 13th? Why yes we are indeed available! Apparently Friday the 13th has been a lucky day for Amy and Chris in their relationship. They met on Friday the 13th. Chris had a successful kidney transplant on a Friday the 13th. So why not continue the positive trend and get married on a Friday the 13th? Amy brought a bouquet of wheat for luck and prosperity and they brought along Amy's best friend and her husband. Amy's best friend officiated and the husband acted as witness and videographer to the joyous event.
As soon as our shoots ended earlier that morning it began to rain. Hard. It was forecast to continue raining all that night. But, again, I told Brian that it would stop. And stop the rain did, right before we rolled up at the Yates House Bed & Breakfast at 6:00 p.m. We moved the ceremony up and had it in the beautifully landscaped backyard, just in case the rain started again (which it never did!). Amy, Chris, Brian and I wandered around beautiful Rocheport afterwards, snapping shots in front of interesting places and talking shop. (Chris studied photojournalism in school and had a deep lover for Art History). It was such a wonderful, relaxed evening and I even got to sign the marriage license as a witness! It was an honor and a pleasure to meet them, even if for such a short time. It's people like Amy and Chris that remind us what amazing folks we get to meet along our journey. = )
Notice a purple-clad fairy behind Chris's shoulder. Whoops... sometimes this happens!
They did it! Woooo hooo!!!
All present.
Well, and this guy, too.
There were such beautiful flowers everywhere! We had a heyday!
And just to document that it almost rained their wedding out...
Happy Thursday!
Mallory (& Brian)
