I met Jackie her freshman year when she happened up living on the same floor on which I was a P.A. (think R.A. but better!). Nick was often around and I got to see some of their sweet courtship. Jackie is drop dead gorgeous and you could always tell Nick knew he had landed a steal! I feel so honored they let me take their wedding pictures on the warm & sunny January 3rd (although for some reason I kept accidentally calling them "Nikki and Jack" rather than "Jackie & Nick" all day long--you can bet that caused a few giggles!). One of the things I love about weddings is that each couple adds their own signature to it. You never have to do it all the same. Jackie & Nick added their touch of finesse by driving away to their reception in style--on a firetruck! Yay for the Glascocks!
(Oh, and Brian took the photo immediately above. It's hard to go wrong with the 70-200!)

.:an ode to mr. mostly mittens:.
So if you haven't met our special cat, Mr. Mostly Mittens, you're missing out. He loves toothpaste and surprises. 10 points if you know where Brian got the name "Mr Mostly Mittens".

.:emily's headshots:.
So Emily, a theatre doctoral student at Mizzou, contacted me several months ago in hopes of finding someone to update her headshots as the last ones she had done were from old glory days in undergrad. Always up for new things, I told her we'd take a shot at it!
Months later, we finally found a day and a location. A lazy Sunday afternoon at the old McKee Gymnasium on Mizzou campus. We took her photos in what apparently used to be the swimming pool! Emily was so patient and fun as Brian and I tweaked lighting and ran around with reflectors and had her try probably over 80 different things. Emily was so great to work with and quite the photogenic subject!
When I got home and saw the pictures I got so excited that I chose a few of my favorites, tweaked a few things, and decided I must put them up immediately!
Our first theatre headshots.

.:brian:.
This is Brian's work. After he took it, he showed it to me proudly and insisted I change it to my facebook picture.
My dear, sweet, wonderful husband knew long before I did that photography was definitely in my future. I had written it off, feeling I could never afford a DSLR let alone learn how to use it. I had given up picture taking because the little point and shoots could no longer do what I wanted. I needed something better, but couldn't afford it. Brian saw this but still continued to encourage me and snuck around with my family for months to find the perfect DSLR for my graduation present. Needless to say, when I opened up the present I was in absolute, utter shock. I cried. I've never had such a wonderful present. One of the things I cherish the most about Brian and our marriage is that he always believes in me in whatever I set my mind to doing. He is the greatest encourager I have ever known. He has been there since the very beginning, pushing me to make the leap together to make sure we got quality equipment, quality software, quality computers so that, as he always says, our equipment could keep up with the talent.
Wonderful, selfless Brian (who recently sold his music recording equipment to help in the purchase of another computer so that he could help more with the photography business).
Musical Brian who can play metal fills on the drums and mad guitar, creative Brian who suddenly comes back with a 6 minute fully orchestrated song that he wrote & produced in one day while avoiding writing his Honors thesis, sweet Brian who spoils our little kitties and takes care of them like they were his babies. Little did he know that he would eventually be joining me in the picture-taking process. First as the techie, putting his technical musical prowess into learning about photography & lighting equipment, and now learning--slowly-- the art of photography.
I'm proud of him. He's starting to be proud of him. Yesterday as we came home for lunch we sat on the couch, gazing at one another, giggling, and voicing out loud how we'd rather be at home snuggling than going back to work and suddenly he said "Wow, I wish I had a camera right now, this would be a beautiful photo... you're just gorgeous" (What a lucky woman I am to have a husband tell me a dozen times a day how beautiful I am!) So he ran to get a camera and shoot this one.
Not bad, if I do say so myself. I wish I looked this good in real life all the time! So here's to Brian and his budding photography skills.

.:misty & jerome:.
What a way to bring in the New Year! Misty & Jerome had a beautiful wedding at Firestone Baars Chapel on Stephens campus and a classy reception at Tiger Hotel complete with trees Misty & crew stripped & covered with glitter & tea lights and Jerome & friends breakdancing! They were such a laidback, joy-filled couple. Their spark and energy were so contagious and their little girl has to be one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen! So here's to a new year and to Misty & Jerome!
